President's Message

April brings mixed weather, rain and cool weather. Drive them when you can. Thanks to the Mikes (Mike Rapoza and Mike Hash), this year will have one of the great drives for UBSCC members…the April Fool’s Rally. It is being held on Saturday, March 29th. There are no rally details as of this writing, but it is guaranteed to provide a great experience.

Don’t forget the Cars n Coffee’s set up monthly by Mike Rapoza. These informal gatherings are a great short drive to share coffee or your favorite morning beverage with Club members. Typically, there will be donuts nearby, a
wonderful way to start the day.

May will be a busy month and here before you know it. The Dixon Show is shaping up to be well attended by
participants. So far, we are exceeding the previous year’s number of participants for folks signing up to show their LBC, Swap Meet booths, and food vendors. Good signs for another successful Show.

The Dixon Show is what sets the UBSCC apart from other Clubs. But all the Clubs have a love for LBCs, something we all have in common. This year the Jaguar Club and MG Club are stepping up to help out. This very welcome help will bring us a more cohesive regional effort to enrich our enjoyment of our LBCs and share efforts to maintain them.

Along with similar thoughts, the Multi-Club Rally in June will further cement an active relationship with the Sacramento Jaguar Club, Sacramento Morgan Club, and Sacramento MG Club. Unfortunately, the increase in LBC owners is flat at best. We are making efforts to attract young owners, but it is a challenge to overcome the expense of the purchase, ownership, and maintain these machines, and the knowledge of how to care for and drive a vintage vehicle is disappearing (what do you mean pump the brakes? A choke? Positive ground? etc.). The more redundant we keep the knowledge and join forces, the more we will keep the LBC lifestyle alive and relevant instead of relegated to museums.

I want to thank Pat Galvin for leading the April meeting, I will be out of town.

Dave.
